Item #A7 – Presentation of CLIU 21 Budget for 2010-2011
Approval of Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit (CLIU) #21 Budget and Resolution for the Operations and Programs Services Budget for the fiscal year July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011 with a District contribution of $37,488.  This represents an increase of $1,057 or 2.9% over the 2009/2010 amount.

CLIU #21 proposes 2010-2011 Operations Budget

The CLIU #21 Board of Directors approved the proposed CLIU #21 Operations Budget for the 2010-2011 school year. The General Operating Budget was unanimously approved by the Superintendents Advisory Council on November 11, 2009, and subsequently by the CLIU #21 Board of Directors on November 16, 2009. This budget will now be submitted to the 14 school districts for approval. Upon approval by the school districts, the budget is sent to the Pennsylvania Department of Education by May 1, 2010.

Comment: Currently, the CLIU #21 website does not publish a link to the proposed General Operating Budget. I find this somewhat disappointing because all public agencies need to adopt a stronger responsibility in fiscal transparency to promote a greater awareness and understanding for all stakeholders.

The district maintains a Policies Under Review webpage that provides stakeholders easy access and viewing of upcoming policy changes. There is also an email link to provide your comments within the 30-day review period.
